There is an extremely dangerous thing happening in America that if not confronted and stopped will short-circuit a huge part of the domestic missions’ charity work being carried out by churches in this country. Far and away, the most devout Christians are mainly found among the black churches in America along with those who claim to be “Evangelical”. These two groups of Christians faithfully attend church and faithfully give their tithes to the church. They are the foundation upon which many churches are built.
Jesus said; “no man can serve two masters” yet that is exactly what many of these people are attempting to do. Millions upon millions of devout Christians are being distracted from what they are supposed to be doing with their own lives and their donations. Millions upon millions of devout Christians have been deluded by a grand lie that has succeeded in captivating their hearts and wallets. Millions upon millions of devout Christians have bought into a devilish lie that is soaking them dry financially and killing them spiritually.
Within the past few days, a huge plug has been removed from the reservoir of collective funds available from devout Christians and is being flushed down the toilet of political campaigns. The amount of money raised by the Obama and Huckabee campaigns as a result of “Super Tuesday” and Mr. Romney’s decision to drop out is staggering. Certainly much of the money being “given” is coming from huge donors, but an awful lot is coming from individuals who have been captivated by the rhetoric or the notion that a Christian is running for President.
Mr. Huckabee said yesterday that he believes in “miracles” and will stay in the race expecting one. Let me tell you, Mr. Huckabee that I firmly believe in miracles, but you will NEVER see the one you want so badly. It is a combination of pure folly and utter shame for Evangelicals and other devout Christians to think that an ordained Baptist minister is going to get elected President of a country so divided politically and religiously that only the anti Christ could ever unite it.
There are millions of Christians who do not like Baptists and would vote against Mr. Huckabee to express that opinion. There are millions of Baptists who do not like Mr. Huckabee’s positions on issues. The “wins” he is racking up in southern and Midwestern states are more a protest vote against Mr. McCain than a vote for him. There is no way even if he won his party’s nomination he would win in a general election. No way, end of discussion.
I personally know of churches who are urging their members to give their “tithes” to Mr. Huckabee’s campaign. I personally know of many people who are throwing every spare penny they have into the Huckabee campaign coffers. I cannot think of any more foolish way to dispose of one’s money than to flush it down the toilet of a political campaign. I cannot think of a greater sin being committed by many devout Christians than to divert money intended for the Lord’s work to a system that is straight from the enemy.
On the other side of the aisle, Mr. Obama is pulling in money at a rate that makes many bankers green with envy. In the two days after “Super Tuesday”, his campaign pulled in over 7 million dollars. Mr. Obama has reached the status of a certified “superstar”. His rhetoric has supercharged the masses and given them the false hope he is going to be some kind of a savior or “messiah” who is going to single-handedly change Washington DC. Once people like Oprah and the Kennedy’s are added into the mix, then the whole thing becomes nothing but a gigantic commercial.
Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton missed their calling in life. Both of them would make a much better “Preacher” than Mr. Huckabee who is supposedly one himself. Politicians can fire up a crowd with their speeches that draw on emotion rather than logic. Many preachers do this every week. They rant and rave and get the congregation so fired up that they throw their grocery money in the offering plate and for a few hours on Sunday they feel like they are walking in heaven. That is until Monday when they start figuring out where the next week’s money is going to come from.
Dr. Martin Luther King could fire up crowds and act as a catalyst for change. But the change he promoted was not governmental, it dealt with attitudes. The change he promoted was from God not from some oval office in Washington. The change he promoted was the result of people working together and not legislation requiring people do one thing or another.
Mr. Obama is not being compared to Dr. King but rather to John Kennedy. This is no accident. Mr. Kennedy was a young revolutionary with a supercharged message of change. He succeeded in rallying the “huddled masses” and through his good looks and fair speeches won the collective heart of much of the nation. This is precisely what Mr. Obama is doing. He is working people into a frenzy and has persuaded them he can personally change the country and suddenly the government will become the guardian for everyone.
I am no fan of any of the current people running for President. But, I am definitely no fan of what is happening with Mr. Obama’s camp. The minute OPRAH, started making public appearances seconding the motions Mr. Obama sets forth; her influence jump-started his campaign and especially the fundraising side of it. More importantly, her influence has justified many poorer black people giving money they don’t have to his campaign.
Mr. Huckabee is winning almost all the votes of Evangelicals and a big chunk of their money, some of which is supposed to be going to support the Lord’s work. Mr. Obama is winning almost all the votes of the black community and a huge chunk of their money, much of which should be going to support their churches and programs in their communities that are really helping people. Mrs. Clinton is doing the same with women and Mr. McCain is doing the same with senior citizens and veterans. People need to wake up and see what is going on here.
The four major candidates are succeeding in appealing to the people who identify with them and are winning the battle for their money. This money should and would normally be given to charities that are actually helping people instead of saying they want to help. There is only so much extra money available, and most of it currently is going to pay for the ultimate popularity contest in the world today—the election of the President of the United States of America.
Meanwhile, small independent charities continue to suffer from lack of donations. Meanwhile, small churches are suffering from a drop in offerings. Meanwhile, independent candidates have to drop from the scene due to lack of funds. Meanwhile, the Federal Government can mysteriously pull over a hundred billion dollars out of a hat to send people checks and tell them to go buy something they don’t need. To say this country is mixed up is the understatement of the century.
Ladies and Gentlemen; politicians cannot and will not change all that ails this country. In fact, they make those ills worse. If people want change, then get busy changing things. Don’t throw money at a politician who cannot do anything but talk. If people want a new direction, then take another street personally; but don’t throw money at politicians who say what they are told to say by those who give them the most money. If Christians want a utopian society, then get out and follow the instructions of the Great Commission, not throw money at a politician who cannot possibly get elected, and even if he did, could not “evangelize” the country.
Politics in America are 100% out of control. Americans need to take a step back and honestly look at what is happening, especially to the money they throw at candidates to try and buy them into office. “We the People” should be the ones changing America, and not some golden tongued orator who can whip a crowd into a frenzied mob ready to empty their savings accounts to fund his or her message.
Americans are looking for a “hero”, and I am here to tell you that he or she is not a politician. The true heroes of our country are fighting an unpopular war, patrol our streets to keep us safe, teach in our schools and devote their lives to selflessly serving those in need. If any of those people want to run for President, they would have my vote. Not some sleazy lawyer who is in it for the money and power.
